Caesarean Support

Your healthcare provider may have recommended a Caesarean section for the birth of your baby and regardless of the reason, we at Birth & Beyond Education are committed to helping you prepare for a positive experience. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to feel confident and empowered for any type of birth.

This workshop is specifically designed  by us, to help you understand the caesarean process and ways to make it a natural and enjoyable experience.  We also provide valuable information on the ‘golden hour’ with your newborn and caesarean section recovery. 

During the workshop, you will learn:

  • What to expect in the last few weeks of pregnancy
  • Signs of labour (just in case)
  • When to call the hospital
  • Preparing for your birth
  • What to pack in your hospital bag
  • Antenatal expressing
  • Ways to relax in the lead up to and during your birth
  • Admission to hospital process
  • What to expect in theatre
  • Your birth – the caesarean 
  • The procedure
  • Pain relief 
  • Role and importance of Birth Support
  • How utilise your hormones for successful breastfeeding
  • The golden hour and first interaction with your newborn
  • Skin to skin contact
  • The first breastfeed

 

Additionally, you will get to know Lucy, your educator who may be there on the day. Look out for her if you’ve chosen The Mater Maternity!

All workshops will be held online 6 – 8pm via the Zoom platform. 

It’s best to take part in this workshop from 30 weeks of pregnancy. Why not pair it with our Fourth Trimester & Feeding Workshop to prepare you for the other side!
